PGA Tour: RBC Heritage tips
Last week we cashed the Scottie Scheffler outright at 25/1 and Jason Kokrak got home on our Top 30 finishing position bet. Those wins were offset by missing on the “No” -110 for USA player to win the tournament and Justin Rose Top 30 was a bust as the veteran Englishman posted a very rare missed cut at Augusta National. We had a handful of outright tickets that didn’t win, but cashing the Scheffler ticket led to a very high plus unit week.
The Tour heads down the road to Hilton Head and the Sea Pines plantation resort for the RBC Heritage. This year’s field is really strong with many players who competed at The Masters playing here. There is no DP World Tour event this week so the players on that tour are sprinkled into this week’s field.
The course is one of the tightest tracks on Tour and similar to the Sony Open at Waialae Country Club with narrow landing areas in the fairway and very small greens. We are avoiding any player who played at Augusta National and focusing on players who enter the event rested and fresh.
Chris Kirk Top 20 +230 (DraftKings)
Kirk had a very strong start to the calendar year on Tour with solid finishes at the Sony Open (T27) and through the Florida swing with a T7 at the Honda Classic & T5 at The Arnold Palmer Invitational, respectively.
Kirk ranks 37th is SG off the tee, 44th SG approach, and 11th SG around the green. His only weakness is putting which ranks 103rd, but fortunately this week, he is playing a course with small greens so his scrambling ability should serve him well.
Denny McCarthy Top 30 + 220 (FanDuel)
McCarthy is an elite putter with a good recent history at this course. He ranks 14th on the Tour in SG putting and compliments the putting with a 55th in SG around the green. Last season, he finished T13 here and comes into the event in good form having made 12 of his last 13 cuts.
Wesley Bryan Top 30 +360 (FanDuel)
Wesley is this week’s “horses for courses” pick given his history at this venue. He won the event in 2017 and last season he finished T25. A South Carolina native, Bryan is very comfortable on coastal courses like Harbourtown. He posted a T15 at the 2022 Corrales Punta Cana Championship in late March which is a coastal track. He’s coming off an injury in 2021 and his current conditional status should lead to a focused performance this week. Wesley will need to lean on his iron game with a current 32nd ranking on Tour in the SG approach category.
Best of luck this week with all your bets!
